FAQ's - C-Gate

This section of the Website refers to Frequenly Asked Questions about C-Gate.

Why does C-Gate automatically shut down each time I open it?

This can be one of two things.

  1. A firewall may be blocking the C-Gate connection (socket 127.0.0.1 port number 20023). To fix this simply allow C-Gate in your firewall settings.
  2. You have a newer version of JAVA than the one that is installed with Toolkit. The best was to fix this problem is to uninstall Toolkit and every version of JAVA installed on your PC. Once this is done, reinstall Tookit.

Can multiple C-Gate servers run on one PC?

No. Only one C-Gate server can run at a time. If you try and open a C-Gate server a number of times, C-Gate will automatically shut them all down. This ensures that only one server is running.

How can I tell if C-Gate is running?

You can tell if C-Gate is running by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. Once the Windows Security graphical user interface is displayed, click on the 'Processes' button. A list of processes will then be displayed.

If the C-Gate Consol is running, you will see a process titled java.exe running. If the C-Gate Server is running, you will see a process titled javaw.exe running.

How do I connect my 3rd Party Software to C-Gate?

To connect to C-Gate using 3rd Party Software, you need to open a socket connection to IP 127.0.0.1 Port Number 20023. All Official C-Bus related software uses the same connection method.

Why can't I send C-Gate commands through the C-Gate Interface?

Ensure you are connected to socket 127.0.0.1 port number 20023. If you have made a successful connection, ensure you have loaded and started the correct C-Bus project. Consult the C-Gate documentation for further details.
